Five Extremely Unique Cruises You Probably Haven't Heard About
Published Thursday, April 23rd 2020 - Updated Friday, April 24th 2020You have probably heard about cruises to Alaska, Caribbean and Europe. You might even know all about river cruises. But I bet you don't know about some of the wildest, unique and amazing cruises out there. We show you some of our favorite bucket list cruises.
Ama Waterways Africa - if you have wanted to visit Africa but were a little nervous about going, Ama Waterways can calm your nerves. Arrive in Cape Town and spend a few days exploring the city with a variety of included excursions. Then board the incredible Zambezi Queen and sail the Chobe River. You will have a full day safari in an open air jeep, travel to a local village to experience the culture first hand and a day visiting Victoria Falls. You can end your vacation in Johannesburg or extend your vacation to experience more of Africa on land.
Alternate Option: Norwegian Cruises now has a couple sailings a year through Africa at a much cheaper price.
Galapagos on board the Celebrity Flora - The only ship to be built from the ground up for the Galapagos islands. This all suite small ship blends the lines between ocean and ship. Start your cruise with a couple days in Ecuador, and the rest of your cruise visiting the Galapagos Islands and all of the wild life, some of which is only seen on these islands. These cruises are all inclusive including flights, suites, pre and post hotels and all of the excursions.
Alternate option: Uncruise also provides small ship itineraries to the Golapagos.
Star Clippers - If you have ever been nostalgic for the old world charm of the full sail ships of the past, Star Clippers may be just for you. Travel in luxury to your favorite destinations around the world and do as much or as little as you want. Assist with sailing, climb the masts, or lay out over the ocean on the nets. This is truly an original experience you will never forget.
Antarctica - Lindblad Expeditions has joined forces with National Geographic to create these once in a lifetime experiences in one of the most remote destinations in the world. After I watched this video for the first time, it immediately went on my bucket list. If you got more unclose than this, you would be in their belly.
Alternate Option: NCL offers a couple cruises to the Antarctica from South America. Because of the size of the ship, you obviously won't have all of the same experiences, but the sticker shock of Lindblad might encourage you to consider it.
UnCruise - If you are looking to get up close and personal with some of the wilder destinations, there is no better way to do it than with Uncruise. Whether you are traveling the more remote spots of Alaska, raft the snake river in Columbia, or explore the jungles of Latin America, on Uncruise you get an uncrushed, uncrowded, uncommon experience.
